Trapt - Enigma

-------------We all get sick. When it's physical, we go to doctors, medicines in the form of pills, and rest to heal wounds. But when an emotional sickness seems to take its toll on even the most stoic of personalities, there will always be a muscian, some lyrics, and a rythem to remedy those invisible scars. The lyrics of "Enigma" cry out for a hand to keep the light on and begs for an emotional revelation. Get "Enigma" from Trapt's self titled debut album.

Goodbye Elliott - Don't Call Me Baby

----------Goodbye Elliott's page caught my attention with their subslogan "Rock & Roll From Hawaii," and I had to say aloha to their tracks. Goodbye Elliott has the pop rock appeal of even the most popular bands on the mainland U.S., carrying songs such as the heartache and heartbreak "Don't Call Me Baby" with euphonic energy. The band effortlessly flows with their music as though The Academy Is and The Format collaborated on an excellently performed album. Get "Don't Call Me Baby" can be found on Goodbye Elliott's Myspace as an unreleased track.

Taking Back Sunday - Sink Into Me

--------Nothing like a ryhthmic round of applause to open up one of rock's most renowned bands. Why the clapping in their video for "Sink Into Me?" TBS is stoked and ready to go in anticipation of the release of New Again, which will hit stores June 2nd. Setting aside his often frantic and jumping vocals, Adam Lazzara takes a hold of the "hey! ho! let's go!" intros and pleasantly sharp melody in "Sink Into Me." The video is dripping with amps, guitars, a pumped up crowd, and the guys of TBS taking hold of the passion they've given fans for ten years since their birth in 1999. Celebrate a decade of american rock domination with New Again.

Ciara feat. Justin Timberlake - Love Sex Magic

---------No stress, maybe undress, but you need to press play on "Love Sex Magic." There's no doubt that our favorite Mouseketeer all grown up makes for a great collaboration, especially when he's sweetly swooning Ciara. Their crazysexycool beat evokes innocent lust, blaming nothing but the dance club trinity that titles the song. It has spirit that rivals Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" and Miss Janet Jackson's "All For You," making it one of Ciara's top hits of her career. Get "Love Sex Magic" from her 2009 album, Fantasy Ride.

Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs - Stay

----------The song is only a minute and a half, but it doesn't take many words to get the point across. "Stay"sways like a slow samba and pleads with baby-don't-go lyrics. The song is featured in the original Dirty Dancing in the scene where Baby enters the staff lounge, and the grinding and the swaying is more than she bargained for (fan much? don't judge). To this day "Stay" is the shortest song ever recorded to hit Number One on the Billboard charts. Get "Stay" from Dirty Dancing's original soundtrack.

Kate Voegele - Manhattan From the Sky

-----------Now as One Tree Hill tells it, Kate Voegele writes this "Thousand Miles"-type love song as inspiration from her new fictional flame (Stephen from Laguna Beach, like ZOMG!). Sure her Myspace page may be coated in glamour shots, and you may not be into chick singers, but Kate Voegele's performance in "Manhattan From the Sky" is worth the listen. With tumbling piano and a relaxed sense of adventure, "Manhattan" is a homage to Voegele's talents, nailing the dismount with vocal gymnastics congruous to the music. Get "Manhattan From the Sky" from her 2009 album A Fine Mess.

Sublime - Rivers of Babylon

-------------Though Bradley Nowell left this world in the mid-90's, Sublime lives on through their timeless ska-punk and reggae ryhtems, tribute bands, and over 17 million albums sold. "Rivers of Babylon" hails from the reggae rock steady 40 Oz. to Freedom, Sublime's 1992 release. The feel-good Jesus shout out was originally written by the Melodians, and though the folk acoustic holy resonance may seem odd lined up next to "Date Rape" and "Smoke Two Joints," its just Nowell's way of saying the guy upstairs loves everyone, no matter what we write. Get the holy shakes in you from 40 Oz. to Freedom.

Duffy - Hanging On Too Long

------------If singers were as pretty as the sound of their voices, Duffy would be the first example. The blonde, critically deemed "anti-Amy Winehouse" Welsh singer wails her way into the hearts of listeners with her small town, big-hearted ballads in Rockferry. The songstress takes the blame of past flames in beautiful stride with vocals full of hurt and regret in "Hanging On Too Long." Though not the most obvious showcase of her range, the need-to-move-on ballad broadcasts her songwriting wonderfully. Get "Hanging On Too Long" from Duffy's phenomenal breakout album, Rockferry.

Jack's Mannequin - Crashing

------------I don't usually like to gush about how much I am unconditionally in love with one singer or another, but Andrew McMahon has absolutely influenced my character over the years with his deeply meaningful lyrics and alternative outlook on life. In "Crashing," lyrics that bemoan the demise of music are veiled in softly tumbling piano and flickers of electric guitar and an echoing chorus. Jack's Mannequin's second studio album The Glass Passenger was released in 2008, written after lead singer/songwriter Andrew McMahon was diagnosed with leukemia. Family, friends, and fans are thankful that the frontman is in remission and currently on tour with The Fray.

Rage Against the Machine - Testify

----------To start, the RATM song most listeners are familiar with is the one most commonly misnamed: it's called "Bulls on Parade," not "Pocket Full of Shells."

Now that we've clarified that and you're all going to change the title in your itunes library, throw on "Testify." "Testify" gushes with aggressive guitar and politically-driven lyrics. No doubt the government bash screams political agenda through Zac de la Rocha's flawless and biting rhymes. Tom Morrello (maybe you've heard of him) plays a mean guitar as well, but my words can't do it justice.
But if you're not left, right, or in the middle about politics, Rage can get you angry enough to punch an infant or run for three days straight on pure rock adrenaline. Get "Testify" from Rage's third studio album, The Battle of Los Angeles.
