Spoon and Deerhunter - Tabernacle, Atlanta GA

As you may have guessed, I wandered down to the land of Peaches and heavy-thudding rap music this weekend to see Spoon and Deerhunter at the Tabernacle.
Well, my trusty but not so trusty Canon pooped out of batteries so I have no photography to share with you. But believe me, the venue is a hipster version of Phantom of the Opera. It's an old theatre with balcony seating, crafted fixtures, a gigantic and ornate chandelier and large windows. But instead of stuffy drapes and guilded fixtures you have whimsical star paintings and bright crayon colors. PBR instead of champagne, Levi skinny jeans in place of petticoats, you get the jist.
Spoon worked it in a non-sweat driven set, and though I'm not entirely familiar with their work, I can say it was a good show. It's already toasty in Atlanta, and it's only March! The only thing the Tabernacle needs to be a holy concert heaven is some A/C. That's all.

Song of the Day

Deerhunter - Strange Lights

---------------Sorry, all. I was out and about visiting my dearest friend in Boston this weekend and narry a time at the computer could be spent!

The ambient rock walk-through-the-sunshine sound of Deerhunter is like warm weather - we're all ready for it and it couldn't fill up the atmosphere soon enough. Thankfully, we can pretend its a glorious, barefoot warm day in the park with "Strange Lights," a song about taking a stroll with someone you care about. Basic and simple, like the perfect white T. Can't wait to see them in Atlanta with Spoon in March. Get "Strange Lights" from the 2007 album, Cryptograms.

Still Some Hope

While you may not dig the fact that Ke$ha has hold of a bottle of Jack and the top of the Billboard charts (hater$, that's all ya'll are), rest assured there are worse things floating around and the numbers reflect that.

Heidi Montag, the blonde decathalete of plastic surgery and dry shampoo of The Hills and I'm a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here!, is/wants to be/attempted to be/ an artist? She *giggle* released an album sold less than 1,000 units in its first week...

Ouch.

Just something to warm your hearts while you enjoy Contra and Transference.
