Never Shout Never - Can't Stand It

-----------It's been a big week for music, and it's not even Grammy night! Red Hot Chili Peppers welcomed Josh Klinghoffer as the band's new guitarist, Take Action tour kicked off and Death Cab reassured us they're working on an album this year.

All of this, and Never Shout Never released what is love? for a cool $7.99 (plus the governer's wages) at Target. "Can't Stand It" is too freaking adorable for words - there is clapping, a smiling horn section and disgustingly "super-duper cute" lyrics.

If you hate everything that has to do with love at the moment, do not listen to this song. It will gross you out, I promise you that. But if you're up for it, take a listen to "Can't Stand It" from what is love?

Walk Harbor City - Arms and Ears

---------Once in a while, exercising my musical tastes just takes a few laps around the "I've-never-heard-of-this-band-in-my-life" circuit. Such was the case today when I came across Walk Harbor City, a Boston band formed in 2008 that just released a new E.P. entitled III Colors.

Walk Harbor City is not a band you'd expect to see with a crowd that's a foot shorter and ten years younger than you. Sure, pop-punk hooks are a dime a dozen, but WHC steps into the genre with more valuable lyrical content than other Weekend Warrior bands. "Arms and Ears" was my favorite from the Myspace page, and with a frontman name like Rocco D'Angelo, Walk Harbor City is bound to make more favorites in the days to come.

JEFF the Brotherhood - Mind Ride

-------------Mind control never sounded so badass with engine chugging guitars that skips right into an even more ominous, uptempo punk rip. The lyrics may not be so seductive, but there's no denying the magnetic draw of this Nashville group. JEFF the Brotherhood may not be best bros with popularity right now (only a handful of friends and Myspace plays), but that isn't stopping their garage grunge music from being played on tour through North Carolina, Virginia and Canada this winter. Check out other songs "U Got the Look" and "Bone Jam" from the band's LP Heavy Days.

Eric Hutchinson - Ok, It's Alright

---------------Ever wonder what your favorite artists listen to when they themselves aren't onstage? Jason Mraz would like to tell you, playing with words on his Myspace blog while listening to soul-guitar man Eric Hutchinson. Fans of Mr. Mr-AZ will love to hear Hutchinson, who could be Mraz's twin for vocal dubs.

After a few fubars in an attempt to create the perfect album, Hutchinson is proud to release his debut album, Sounds Like This, to the masses. Red Blue Records

-----------On the color wheel, red and blue make purple (I graduated first-grade art). But these colors also blend together to make Red Blue Records, which features the latest New England punk and hardcore bands that pack more punch than a case of Monster.

Working out of Medford, Massachusetts for several years, Red Blue Records is currently painting the music scene with a handful of New England bands, from the metal-punk Ice Nine Kills to the the mall rock guitar stylings of Brunswick.

"The original idea to create the label was to help brings, like my own at the time – Gone Baby Gone, to the next level," said Michael Krilivsky, owner and co-founder of Red and Blue Records.

Krilivsky said the label began "by hard work, kids that love music, and non stop planning, adapting and executing to help get our artists to where they are now." The label is committed to bringing New England bands the best promotion and networking to get under the spotlight to have their music heard all over.

The Hello Approach - What Goes Around Comes Around

-----------A wiseman's saying that never ceases to haunt us young-and-in-lovers, to be sure. "What Goes Around..." tells it like it is: you had me, you left, now you want me back. Pretty basic, no?

Never fear; The Hello Approach brings sweeping vocals and heartfelt instrumentals into their song. "I used to think you were beautiful/But it all stops at the skin" harken to those shallow girls stuck in the relationship kiddie pool. The karma for the Hello Approach is as follows: if you're super nice and check out their songs from their self-titled demo, they'll be pleased as punch to give you much more.
